Biography |
Currently, I am the Deputy State Public Defender for Wisconsin’s State Public Defender Office (SPD). As Deputy, I work with the agency head, and in collaboration with a 12-member executive management team, to develop the vision, strategy and policy of the SPD. I implement the strategy of the agency through oversight of the executives responsible for the internal operations of the agency. I began my legal career as a trial attorney at the SPD in 1996. I represented clients charged with a variety of different types of crimes. Also, I worked in the private sector as government relations liaison for various organizations. As liaison, I provided information to members of the legislature about issues affecting clients of these organizations. As Commissioner at the Personnel Commission, I judged complaints alleging violations of State and Federal employment law and State personnel rules. In addition to my work with the Public Defender’s Office, I am the Past President for the Board of Directors of Wisconsin Literacy, Chair of the Bench Bar Committee for the Wisconsin State Bar, a member of the Board of Directors of Wisconsin Women in Government, a member of the Wisconsin Criminal Justice Study Committee, and a member of various local justice-related groups. |
